Washing Systems

Washing systems are used to remove contaminants such as clays and organic materials from the aggregates produced in a crushing plant.
The aggregates are delivered into a vibratory screen where they are moistened with water jets thrown through spray nozzles specially located and then subjected to a vigorous vibration that removes the contaminants adhered, forming a mud that together with the sands are delivered to the fines outlet chute of screen.
The mixture of sand and mud is deposited in sedimentation tanks, where the sand is recovered by means of bucket wheels called Norias or by screws of large diameter, known as Washer Screws.
The recovered product is drained sufficiently to be conveyed by a belt conveyor to a storage stockpile.
